Everything Zara, except the floral H&M jacket

Today's post is a little bit different, since I don't remember wearing this much make-up in any of the posts so far. It's because these photos were taken right after the photoshoot I did for Dnevni kich and right before one of the shows of Philips fashion week, that has started yesterday, here in Ljubljana. I attended only one show yesterday, since the majority of my favourite designers decided not to participate in this year's fashion week, so I decided to check out what the new, upcoming designers have prepared and I have to admit, a few of them really impressed me! And not to mention my make-up (a big thank you to Tina Fabjan), that impressed me every time I looked myself in a mirror! :D
Have a great day everyone!

Love,
Tesa

PFW day 3- part two

Sunday, October 14, 2012

Last but not least, it's time for the last part of Slovenian Philips fashion week. The first two photo were taken during the break between shows (first one with Maja and the second one with my favourite designer Nina Šušnjara) and here is the second part of a runway review:

JSP

Definitely one of my most favourite shows. I love how JSP's woman is presented as some sort of a warrior and so she is strong and independent with clean cuts but amazing leather, sheer and shoulder details.

Garevski

Clean, elegant and so incredibly chic- that's Garevski that we love and adore. Or as he calls it: "An intimate story about the opposites and their coexistence!"
And I'm dying over that asymmetrical cuts...not that you are surprised! :)

NatasaHrupic

That amazing floral print and accessories... definitely something I'll remember from this collection.

Peter Movrin

And of course I must not forget to show you the last collection, created by visionary and incredibly talented Slovenian designer called Peter Movrin. There are many words to describe this collection and all I can say is, he closed the third Slovenian fashion week in style!

PFW day 3- part one

Saturday, October 13, 2012

This is my last and my most favourite outfit from Slovenian Philips fashion week. I decided to give "big, chunky earrings" trend a chance, so this is what I came up with. Oh and a big thank-you to Maja for taking the photos, I forgot my camera at home and without her, this look would only be a memory, so she pretty much was my hero of the day! :)
But enough of me, let's move on to the first part of some of the collections, that we were able to enjoy on the third (and the last) day:

Eric Matyash

This collection was a brilliant comeback for Erik Maj Potočnik and Matjaž Plošinjak, that finally gave us that "wow" factor (that we were missing so badly during the whole fashion week), with their incredible details,  defined silhouettes and a combination of different materials, not to mention that special couture touch that brings the collection to the complete new level.

m*Faganel

Matevž Faganel's latest collection is young, fun and playful which is a great contrast to his classical pieces that we are so used to! He decided to add a bit of an architectural touch, including different patterns and shapes that can be worn during the day but transformed to the night time in a second!

Ivan Rocco

I wasn't absolutely sure how I felt about Ivan Rocco's collection when I first saw it. I do like a vintage vibe that he decided to go for, but at the same time it's a little bit too much for my taste. But going through the pictures I noticed so many amazing details, I realized posting this collection was a must, since this is what fashion is all about- taking your favourite pieces and trying to incorporate them in your personal style. So I'm already thinking about those printed skirts that I think would go with my wardrobe just fine! :)

PFW day 2- my outfit

Friday, October 12, 2012

This is what I wore for the second day of Slovenian Philips fashion week. I decided to go for a very classy look on one side (with black pencil skirt and a peplum top), but I toned it down with this military jacket and a beanie hat that add that little rebel touch to the whole outfit.
Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Love,
Tesa

PFW day 2

Thursday, October 11, 2012

Third Slovenian fashion week is officially over, but there are still many photos waiting for me to go through and to post them here on Magnifique. I'm lacking a little behind I know, but I was so busy in the last couple of days, so that I decided to take posting slow, since after all the fashion week madness I can finally over and I can take a proper time for blogging.

But before we go to the collections, I wanted to share a few thoughts about this fashion week. Let me first explain (to the majority of my international readers) how (as a blogger) you get to see the shows here in Slovenia...no, we do not get invitations as you might have thought, we have to send applications to receive an accreditation and to become a part of a press section. Don't get me wrong that it completely fine with me, but here is where things become complicated. Sure we were part of the press, but the sad reality is, there was absolutely no selection when giving away accreditations, so of course there weren't enough seats for everyone. And so, me and the rest of the bloggers, were demanded to stand at the back for the whole show. And even that wouldn't bother me that much, if I wouldn't see that at the end, little kids were sitting in the front row and that quite a few people in the press section (that got the chair) didn't seem to be interested in the fashion show at all, since they were spending the whole time looking at their Facebook page.
So after the first part of the shows I was seriously considering going home (my legs hurt like hell), but my love for fashion and my excitement to see the fresh work of Slovenian designers made me stay and I do believe that designers do respect my work a little bit more, since bloggers (especially us that write in English) are the ones that spread the word about them to the rest of the world.
I guess I can only wish that the rest of the people in the Slovenian fashion business would respect us more.

Anyway as promised here are my favourite collections from day 2:

Maja Štamol

As a designer herself said, the collection was inspired by the memories of her youth and her beginnings of being a fashion designer. And I couldn't agree more. The collection is playful, fun, I love the colour pallet and the choice and the combination of different materials that give that special edge to the whole story.

Simona Lampe

The collection was inspired by rainy and stormy summer days that are caught in amazing lace work and leathery details. But after every rain, the sun comes out and therefore we have different pops of colours (such as that orange dress on the picture above) that  make a very diverse but yet coherent collection. Besides, it was nice to see some bright colours that stood out in calm and basic colours that seem to be very popular among Slovenian designers, for spring 2013.

Alice Bossman

Although I just praised strong colours, this collection was absolutely amazing. I really like the futuristic and at the same time a little bit of a sporty vibe that's going on and due to Alice's work, I think I'm gonna start adding some metallic details to my clothes, since that looks freakin' awesome!

Nika Ravnik

Nika Ravnik knows how to bring the most boring prints to the whole new level, which creates a very chic and interesting look. The collection is super wearable, it is a little bit too sophisticated for my taste but at the same time very inspiring and I can already see what prints I'm going to try out in the near future!

Nena Florjančič

From the moment the first girl stepped on the runway, wearing that sparkling top, I was sold! The collection is fresh and strong and the materials that she used are pretty genius. I love how she played with different textures that create great contrasts that add a little sex appeal, but yet can be worn in a very classical way (for those that are a little less daring). As for the colours, the designer says she wanted to create contrasts that emphasize the natural shape of a woman's body and once again, I think she nailed it!

Ana Jelinič

Last but not least, I decided to show you Ana Jelinič's collection. What I love about it, is that it is very well put together, I love how she thought about details (from hats to bags) that create a great presentation and an integral whole. Not to mention the clothes, that are absolutely perfect for hot, summer days when light materials are a must, especially if you decide to spend the holidays traveling around...oh, did I tell you that here major inspiration were "Japanese tourists"?  :)

PFW day 1

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

Slovenian fashion week has started yesterday, so we better get to it, since there are plenty more photos and recaps to come! The first impression is (of course) very positive, full of excitement for the new season and for the work of Slovenian designers. I'm still waiting for that big "wow" though, but there are many more shows to come, so I'm pretty sure they won't let us down!
Speaking of designers here is a little recap of the shows that I did and didn't like, I didn't include all of them since the post is already too long, but I think you'll get the picture :)

Almira Sadar

Almira Sadar's show was very expected, I don't really think she brought anything new to the table, but she stayed true to herself and to her style, so as usual the collection was very cute and wearable. She isn't really my style but there are actually a few pieces that I would look at them twice, so thumbs up for that!

Draž pletenine

My least favourite collection of yesterday's night. I guess it's just not my type of thing, I don't like the patterns, the colour palet and the shapes and I expected more from them, so that makes my disappointment even bigger. But I do give them a credit for the use of material, as every year they've proved that they are the masters of knitting.

Farandula

I really liked the collection from the moment the first model stepped on the runway, but as the show went by I realized why I was in such a sympathy with it. Am I the only one that saw a little bit of Nina Šušnjara's scent in this collection?..I know I am a big fan of her work, so I might not be the perfect person to judge, but something about the colour pallet, the materials and the shape of a certain pieces associated me with her collection. I hate to say it, but is it possible that Slovenian designers are becoming copycats?

Niti Niti

As usual- colorful, fresh and young, this is Niti Niti that we all love and adore!

Katja Magister

I was actually quite surprised with Katja Magister's collection, I really like this "cloudy" pattern, especially if it's mixed with the colour red (the dress bellow) and the asymmetrical cuts that are the thread of the whole collection. I'm not such fan of the plaid though, but since the collection is cohesive and well made, I give it a plus!

Akultura

Last but not least- Akultura, also known as my most favourite one of the evening. I think this collection represents everything I like when it comes to designing of clothes, it has everything from sheer materials to asymmetrical, clean cuts and colourful leather (I died over that yellow one) that I've been obsessing over this fall and something is telling me that my obsession is about to continue in the next season!

After the show I did manage to snap a few pictures on the runway and gave my first interview as a blogger to our national television! :)

Stay tuned for more posts from Philips fashion week!
